Formats

The main ways to build a deck and which cards are legal.

Standard: Only the most recent sets; rotates as new ones release.
Pioneer: Everything from Return to Ravnica forward; no rotation.
Modern: Cards from Eighth Edition and on; a deep, non-rotating pool.
Legacy: Nearly every card ever printed, bound only by a ban list.
Vintage: The fullest pool; the most powerful cards are restricted to one copy.
Commander: A 100-card singleton format led by a legendary creature, usually four players.
Pauper: Only cards printed at common rarity.
