Words you'll meet on card pages and in rules text.
- Permanent
- A card on the battlefield: creature, artifact, enchantment, planeswalker, battle, or land.
- The stack
- Where spells and abilities wait to resolve, last in first out.
- Tap / untap
- Turning a card sideways to use it; untapping in your next untap step.
- Counter (verb)
- To stop a spell or ability from resolving.
- Counter (noun)
- A marker on a permanent, like a +1/+1 counter.
- Mana value
- The total mana in a card's cost; how 'big' a spell is.
- ETB
- An 'enters the battlefield' triggered ability.
- Oracle text
- The current official wording of a card's rules.
